OIT Systems Maintenance, 5/22 & 5/23 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


Printing services maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading printing services used in the computer labs, library, and web printing on Wednesday, May 22nd, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
Downtime window start: 05/22/2024 6:00 AM
Downtime window end: 05/22/2024 9:00 AM
Affected services: Papercut services including printing from lab and library computers as well as web printing from fauprint.fau.edu.
End-user impact: Printing services in the labs, library, and fauprint.fau.edu will be intermittently unavailable during this upgrade.


Server maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing server maintenance affecting uAchieve/DARS access and audits.

Downtime window end: 05/23/2024 7:00 AM
Affected services: uAchieve/DARS
End-user impact: uAchieve/DARS will be unavailble during this time.


REDCap maintenance
Description of change: Research Computing will be performing Maintencace on REDCap. During this time REDCap will be offline for all users
Downtime window start: 05/23/2024 9:00 PM
Downtime window end: 05/24/2024 6:00 AM
Affected services: REDCap and any API’s that may interact with REDCap
End-user impact: During this time REDCap will be put into maintenance mode. Users will see “REDCap is down for Maintenance” if they try to get to any REDCap login or survery.

Papercut printing service down for maintenance Wednesday 5/22/24 from 6AM-9AM

We will be performing some service enhancements that will require the Papercut service to be intermittently offline between 6AM and 9AM on Wednesday the 22nd. This will affect printing in the library, as well as the computer labs. In addition, web printing from fauprint.fau.edu will also be affected during this window.

[Resolved] Zoom -> Mediasite Imports

The Zoom to Mediasite import tool has been repaired and is now importing designated Zoom recordings in to Mediasite. OIT is continuing to monitor the tool for stability.

Please note that only Zoom recordings made on or after May 1st will be imported. Failed recordings made before this date will need to be manually transferred by downloading from Zoom and uploading into MyMediasite.

Boca Network Disruption

A fiber outage has been detected at the Fort Lauderdale campus, a ticket with the service provider has been opened and we are awaiting resolution.

Zoom -> Mediasite Imports offline

Currently Zoom recordings designated for import to Mediasite are not being imported. OIT is aware and is investigating the problem with the vendor.

Recordings can still be uploaded manually in the web interface.

Health Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Research Computing’s last-generation Virtual desktop Infrastructure (vhealth.fau.edu) is currently offline. We have identified the problem and are working to resolve it. Our new generation VDI is currently online and working as expected.
